What does Reiki mean?
Reiki is a natural healing system based on energy meridians.
The word Reiki is made up of two Japanese words: Rei meaning universal power or spirit;
Ki meaning “life force or energy” which is equivalent to Chi in Chinese medicine or Prana in Yoga
The History of Reiki
Reiki is a Tibetan form of healing said to have been rediscovered by Dr. Mikao Usui, in the late 1800’s in Southern Japan. He spent many years looking for the greater purpose of life and came to the conclusion that the ultimate purpose was to be in a complete state of peace within the mind.
What can I expect from a Reiki treatment?
A typical Reiki treatment lasts for 1 hour, including time for questions before and after the treatment. You can lie or sit during a treatment. My hands will be placed on or just over your body, starting from the head and working down to the feet. The Reiki energy will be drawn from my hands to your body wherever it is needed. You may feel sensations of heat, cold, tingling or colours. You may fall asleep.
